Email on your domain

Email on your domain has two separate jobs. (1) Receiving what visitors send via the contact form. (2) Sending and receiving human-to-human email from a hello@yourbusiness.co.uk mailbox. The first is part of your website, so it stays with me. The second is business email, which our sibling practice Dacros runs.

Job 1 - contact form delivery (part of every build)

Your contact form delivers via Resend EU (Frankfurt), which is EU-sovereign, GDPR-compliant by default, and offers sub-second delivery.

When a visitor fills the form, Resend sends the email to whichever inbox you have nominated (typically your existing personal or work email). The “from” address is hello@yourbusiness.co.uk so when you reply you reply from your domain.

DNS records required:

These records tell receiving mail servers that Resend is allowed to send on your domain’s behalf, which keeps form submissions out of spam folders. They sit with the rest of your email records, so Dacros adds them when the domain flips, the same way it adds the sending records for any email campaigns I run for you. If your site is already live, they are in place and there is nothing to do.

Job 2 - mailboxes (set up by Dacros)

If you want to send and receive email from hello@yourbusiness.co.uk (rather than your personal gmail), that is a mailbox. New mailboxes, extra addresses, forwarding, and moves to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 are set up by Dacros, along with the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records that keep your mail out of spam. I no longer set up new mailboxes here.

Already have a mailbox?

The details you were given when it was set up still apply: the mailbox address, the password you set on first login, and the IMAP/SMTP server settings for your email app. You can use it in Apple Mail, Outlook, the gmail app, or Migadu’s web client.

For a further address, an extra mailbox or a move to another provider, go to Dacros. If an existing mailbox stops working, email me as usual and I will get it to the right place.

What about Google Workspace or Microsoft 365?

Either runs alongside the VerySEOly site, as the DNS records do not conflict. Google Workspace is £5.20/user/month direct to Google, and Microsoft 365 is £4.80/user/month direct to Microsoft. Setting one up, or moving to it, is business email, so Dacros does it. (Note: Google Workspace data sits on US-resident infrastructure, which matters for regulated verticals, and Microsoft 365 carries the same EU-sovereignty caveat.)
